The massive granite rocks were declared a nature reserve as early as 1933; later they became a natural monument called "Jan Svatoš". This charming place has inspired a number of artists (J.W.Goethe, V.Mrštík).

The rocks consist of lots of rock pillars and columns shrouded in numerous legends. One of them has it that they represent a petrified wedding procession - a spurned fairy cursed her lover who had betrayed her and had married another girl.
