Teplá Abbey (Czech: Klášter Teplá; German: Stift Tepl) is a Premonstratensian abbey in the western part of Bohemia, included in the Archdiocese of Prague; it was founded in 1193 by the blessed Hroznata, a Bohemian nobleman (d. 1217).

Sometime between 1585-1597, a Renaissance chateau was built in the valley below Kynžvart Castle. Its exact appearance is no longer known today, and we do not have any contemporary depictions of the chateau.

Only few museums can be found in such appropriate buildings as the building of the Royal Mint in Jáchymov is. This Renaissance building dating from 1536 can be called its exhibit No. 1.

Granary towers are the oldest preserved structures of folk architecture in the region of Cheb.

An almost copybook example of regional folk architecture is the “Old Mill” in Březová. The building, which is comfortably accessible from Karlovy Vary by mass transport, is worth seeing although it is not folk architecture in the true sense of the word.

A small and charming spa town near Karlovy Vary. Among its most notable visitors were Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Strauss, and Johann Wolfgang Goethe, who described these greenery-filled baths as one of the most beautiful places in the heart of Europe.

One of the most interesting historical buildings in the town is the large Baroque chateau grounds with a park. In its time, the park was called the eighth wonder of the world.

Today, Mariánské Lázně is the second largest spa town in the country, and together with Karlovy Vary and Františkovy Lázně, forms one of the most attractive regions of the country, known as the West Bohemian Spa Triangle.

In place of today's Sedlec, there used to live a Slavic tribe of Sedlec people in the early Middle Ages. During the 11th and 12th centuries, Sedlec became the Přemyslide administrative centre of the region. The dominant building of Sedlec is the Baroque Pilgrimage Church of St. Anne, built between 1738 and 1749, standing in the village square.

The romantic valley of the Ohře River stretches from Karlovy Vary to Loket and is part of the Slavkov Forest Protected Landscape Area. Less than eight kilometres long, the deep canyon of the valley was created by the Ohře River forcing its way through the Karlovy Vary granite massif.
